We are collecting shelf-stable snacks and food items at the Dream Center (126 General Chennault NE 87123) on July 23rd from 10 am-5 pm to support the following efforts.
1) The New Mexico Dream Center uses lots of snacks every week in the Harbour for unhoused and at-risk youth because we believe that no young person should have to do desperate things for food.
2) Our Outreach program gives out food and snacks on the streets and at the skate park for at-risk youth and trafficking victims multiple times weekly. This effort gives us the opportunity to reach the under-reached and make sure they know where to go for help when they need it.
3) Shelf-stable foods are given to survivors in our Spoken For Program when they move into their new apartments, and as needed throughout their journey.
4) The NMDC is partnering with Title 1 and the McKinney-Vento program to provide 400 snack bags a month to unhoused and at-risk youth in schools.
Providing all of those donations is a tall order!
With all these different projects, we give away over 5,000 food and snack items EVERY MONTH.
We can’t do this without you! Donate weekly, monthly, or at our food drive on July 23rd.
